。。 Today, on February 11—Japan’s National Foundation Day—I released a new piece titled “Gagaku Recitation.” The work is called “Kigensetsu.” It is based on an old school song, restructured as a spoken recitation. An election has just ended, with voter turnout failing to reach 60%, and the Japanese flag is being raised at the Winter Olympics as this day arrives. It’s a day that makes me pause and wonder—what will become of Japan from here on?

Triṃśikā-vijñapti-mātratā (Thirty Verses on Consciousness Only)

“Following Nikola Tesla—the physicist whom Einstein called a ‘genius’—if the universe (all things) is made of frequency, then perhaps chanting sutras releases those very frequencies along with the meanings they carry…

I tried reciting Vasubandhu’s Thirty Verses on Consciousness-Only (Vijñaptimātratā-triṃśikā), which speaks of a stratum deeper than Jung’s collective unconscious—namely the ālayavijñāna. Will it reach the cosmos…?”
