【白秋はロックな詩人〜北原白秋「邪宗門秘曲（ロック）」】

 　北原白秋、と聞くと、真っ先に童謡のイメージを抱く。しかも、金子みすゞと並んで教科書に載るような実に優等生的名作ばかりで、荒みきった小生には退屈で仕方ない。だから、長い間ノータッチだったのだが、ふと「邪宗門」という言葉に引っかかるところがあり、「青空文庫」を閲覧してみて仰天した。かくもキレキレの白秋にお目にかかるのは、遅まきながら初めてだったのだ。童謡のイメージが見事に粉砕された瞬間だった。と同時に、ロックビートが耳に蘇ってきて、それで朗誦することにした。詩人の若き時は、なぜこうも尖っているのだろう。歳を取り名声や勲章を手にすると、鋭さはなまってしまうのか。政治にしろ芸術にしろ、「みんなに愛される」のは、結局「誰にも愛されない」ことか。「嫌われ者」が理想？ 　When I hear the name Kitahara Hakushu, the first thing that comes to mind is children’s songs. And not just any children’s songs, but those impeccably “model-student” masterpieces that seem to belong in school textbooks alongside the poems of Kaneko Misuzu. For a jaded fellow like myself, they were simply too wholesome to be interesting. 　So for a long time, I left Kitahara completely untouched. But one day, the word Jashūmon somehow caught my attention. I looked it up on Aozora Bunko—and was astonished. 　This was the first time, late though it may have been, that I had encountered such a sharp-edged, dazzlingly intense Hakushū. 【SACRIFICE〜８月６日広島原爆の日に寄せて】 In Commemoration of August 6th, Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Day

 　８月７日（アメリカ時間）のNuryoican Online MICのテーマが「Sacrifice」と先週知り、それに触発されて急遽製作したのが本作。

　以前から、「広島原爆慰霊碑」の碑文が気になっていた。「安らかに眠って下さい　過ちは　繰返しませぬから」－－。

　東京裁判に加わったパール判事の疑問。日本語は主語が省かれる。「これは誰の謝罪か……」戦争に勝者も敗者もないが、勝者が罰されず、敗者が徹底的に誇りまで奪われる。それが東京裁判だったのでは、と。。。

　「和」を尊しとする我が国につけこむ狡猾な悪意を、現在もなお、ひしひしと覚える。






I found out last week that the theme for the upcoming Nuyorican Online MIC on August 7th (U.S. time) would be “Sacrifice.” Inspired by that, I rushed to create this piece.


For some time, I have been struck by the inscription on the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Cenotaph:

“Let all the souls here rest in peace, for we shall not repeat the evil.”


Justice Pal, who served on the Tokyo Trials, raised an important question. In Japanese, the subject is often omitted. “Who, exactly, is apologizing here?”

There are no true victors or losers in war. And yet, in the Tokyo Trials, the victors escaped judgment while the defeated had even their dignity stripped away. Was that not the nature of those proceedings?

Even today, I feel the presence of a cunning malice that preys upon our national reverence for　和(wa)—harmony.



【注記】
米ジョージ・ワシントン大学のシンクタンク「国家安全保障アーカイブ」によると、広島への原爆投下から2日後の初期分析において、「少なくとも死者10万人」と米軍が推計していたことが、公開された文書から明らかになっています。

また、広島市は1945年12月末までの死者を約14万人と推計しています。
