【クリスマスは孔雀の聖歌で〜W.B.イェイツ「孔雀」】A poetry chant for Christmas Eve. “The Peacock” by W. B. Yeats

 　本日はクリスマスイブ。七面鳥がふさわしいところだが、父親の県展入選の写真を使わせてもらうことにして、孔雀でお許しください。真っ白の羽の孔雀だが、動画制作中、彩色の誘惑に駆られ、ヴィジュアルに傾いてしまった。まあ、クリスマスでもあるし、美を意識してのこととご勘弁ください。　戦後80年も、残すところ一週間。戦闘機の代わりに「熊」が襲来する一年だった。来年こそ、まともな年になりますように。。。 　 　動画の詩「孔雀」は、W .B.イエーツ、中期の詩集「レスポンシビリティーズ」所収。世俗的な富より美こそ、と謳う。グレゴリオ聖歌などとても歌えないが、たまには美しいものを、と原文の美麗さに乗って口ずさんだもの。お気に召していただければ幸い。 　Today is Christmas Eve. 　A turkey would be more appropriate, perhaps, but instead I have borrowed a photograph by my father—one that was once selected for a prefectural exhibition—and ask your forgiveness for presenting a peacock instead.　This peacock, with its pure white feathers, was meant to remain unadorned. Yet during the process of making the video, I found myself tempted by color, and the work gradually leaned toward the visual. 【投票率58.51％に思う】選ばないことで選ばる偉い人〜民主主義が機能しなくなると独裁性を生む（プラトン『国家』）　

  　この月曜日、７月２０日に行われた参議院選。与党過半数割れで大敗という結果だったが、投票率は半数を上回ったものの、棄権率は四割余り。選ぶのが難しい時代だけど、選ばないことによる悲劇を思うと、「知らん」では済まされない。いやいや、この「知らん」こそ、現今の政治の為体を招いている、と言っても良いのではなかろうか。


　プラトン『国家』第８から、

“The excess of liberty, whether in States or individuals, seems only to pass into excess of slavery."

「自由の過剰は、国家であろうと個人であろうと、ただ奴隷制の過剰へと移行するだけのように思われる。」


“The ruin of oligarchy is the ruin of democracy; the same disease magnified and intensified by liberty overmasters democracy... The excess of freedom passes into the excess of slavery.”

「寡頭政治の崩壊は民主主義の崩壊である。自由が民主主義を支配する際に、同じ病気が拡大し強化される……自由の過剰は奴隷制の過剰へと移行する。」

　奴隷制！　なるほど。僕らはいつしかメディアの奴隷になっているのかも知れない。テレビが言ってる、新聞が言ってる、評論家が、芸能人が言ってる。。。
