【眞（まこと）の詩歌】「暁明」〜井上詠（井上義夫の筆名）の名詩に挑む！

 　井上詠（ながむ）−井上義夫氏の筆名–詩集『大和島根遙か』（1981年　風人社刊）所収の「暁明」を朗読。

　思えば、本年冒頭、「辰年」に因んで、『古事記』から八岐大蛇の件りを朗読、動画を作った。

　現在に始まったことではないが、崩壊顕著な日本への哀歌といった思いだった。

　その詩魂のなせるわざか（上記は、スサノオが妻となるクシナダヒメと住むための宮殿を出雲に建てるという和歌の朗詠で終わる）、この春、偶然か必然か、詩集『大和島根遙か』を読む機会を得た。

　

　「國の博士は異國（ことつくに）の文を舐めまはして忙しい」

　この一節が私の胸に突き刺さった。T・S・エリオットの詩題をそのまま（一応、日本語訳して）詩誌名にしてしまうほど、もろにあちら崇拝から始まり今日に至っている、文芸的「富国強兵」根性に違和感・反感を抱いて久しい異端児の背を押された感だった。全篇、旧仮名遣いにも、その反骨が感じられ、早速、制作・許可を頂戴し、アップロードに至った。いや。私ではない、この名詩の霊力（きりえき）が、17分に及ぶ目眩く詠像を完成させたのである。

　1981年発行だから、44年前である。作者、若かりし頃の作だ。詩人・井上詠（ながむ）は、D・H・ロレンスの評伝で「第八回和辻哲郎文化賞」を受賞され、村上春樹の評伝『村上春樹と日本の「記憶」』にも定評ある、井上義夫氏である。氏は今年、令和７年春の叙勲で瑞宝中綬章を受章された英文学者、翻訳家、評論家。その長きに亘る教育研究と学術振興発展に寄与した功績が認められた。

Gyōmyō – A Poetic Dawn

This video features a recitation of Gyōmyō (“Dawn Light”), a powerful poem by Ei Inoue—the pen name of scholar and poet Yoshio Inoue—from his 1981 collection Far Away, Yamato and Shimane.

Earlier this year, I created a Kojiki-inspired poetry video for the Year of the Dragon. Now, guided by the same spirit, I encountered this long-forgotten gem—a poetic lament for Japan that still resonates today.

One line struck me deeply:

“The Doctor of the Nation busily laps up the writings of foreign lands.”

It echoed my unease with Japan’s literary culture—a tradition too eager to borrow Western prestige, often at the cost of its own poetic soul.

Inoue’s work resists that tendency. Written in classical Japanese, it pulses with quiet defiance and spiritual clarity. I was moved to seek the poet’s permission—and with it, created this 17-minute audiovisual experience. Or rather, the poem itself compelled me. It was not my doing, but the poem’s own spirit that shaped the final result.

In 2025, Inoue was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure for his lifelong contributions to literature and education. Beyond academia, Gyōmyō shows his depth as a poet—a voice where ancient language, modern grief, and national memory converge.
