【二百年前の強き日本で候】本日2月18日「異国船打払令」発令日(文政八年 1825年)/What Guts! “The Edict to Repel Foreign Ships”(1825)

Exactly two hundred years ago today, on February 18, 1825, the Edict to Repel Foreign Ships, also known as the No-Second-Thoughts Repel Order, was issued during the Bunsei era. When I read the official document for the first time, I was both surprised by its resolute stance and impressed by its boldness. I couldn’t help but think, "How different this is from Japan today!" Of course, the situation changed rapidly after this, eventually leading to the opening of the country. However, the shogunate’s policy and spirit at that time — one of “saying what must be said” — left me feeling reassured and inspired. This was truly the essence of Bushido. And yet... has all of that become nothing more than a distant memory? Please...

A hastily made spoken-word video, inspired by the recent Liberal Democratic Party leadership election, where a new party leader — and the next prime minister — was chosen. This is a parody of Kenji Miyazawa's Be Not Defeated by the Rain, with a twist of political criticism delivered in a somewhat quirky Japanese North-East dialect. New Leader is a clown or a crown?...

“Beaten by the Rain”~A Parody of Kenji Miyazawa's‘Unbeaten by the Rain’

Poem & Read by POETAQ

Beaten by the rain,

Beaten by the wind,

Beaten by snow and the heat of summer,

Holding no sturdy land,

Driven by greed,

Blamed and quick to anger,

Smiling at big nations,

Every day short of brown rice or white rice,

Miso and vegetables,

All food genetically modified,

Seeming to understand its effects on the human body,

but not really knowing,Health risks never investigated.

The fields and pine forests’ shadows,

Gleam with solar panels.

In the east, where children are ill,

He goes and promotes calming vax.

In the west, where mothers are tired,

He offers investment schemes.

In the south, where death is near,

He doesn't go there, but goes to promise military aid instead.

In the north, where disputes and trials abound,

He uses power to hush things up.

When radioactive waste floods, he releases it into the ocean,

In summers of sudden downpours, he only talks of solutions,

Called upon to resign by all,

Yet trying to be praised by globalists,

Selling the country off without a second thought,

To such a prime minister,

I say, no!

Namu...
